Breaking Away offers fixed gear conversions for road bike frames. This service is popular for older road bike frames using high end tubing (double or triple butted tubing) that is far superior to many track bikes on the market today that use low end tubing and lugs.
Fixed gear conversions includes braze-ons removal and rear derailleur hanger removal for $25 tax free. We also sell components for track bicycles and offer technical advice and installation.

Breaking Away tune-ups include the following: 

- Front and rear derailleur    
   adjustments 
- Degreasing and re-lubrication of
   chain and gears 
- Shifter calibration 
- Brake adjustment 
- Wheel true check 
- Inspection for damage 
- Bolt tightening 
- Inflation of tires to correct PSI

In order for your frame and fork to be powder coated, all components must be taken off first. We encourage those who are able to take off as many components as they can to do so. However, if you need assistance, Breaking Away provides a tear down service for $60 tax free, and a build up service for an addition $60 tax free.

Tear down fees may be reduced dependent on how many components you are able to remove, yet may increase if the bottom bracket and stem are seized (a common occurrence among older bicycles).
